The longest dish sets the total cooking time. Every other dish is started later so it finishes at the same moment. In "start now" mode the longest dish begins right away; in "be ready at a set time" mode the timer counts down to the moment you should put the first thing on.
Each dish shows a live countdown, and you'll get a beep (and a vibration on phones) the instant it's time to start the next one. While the timer runs the tool asks your device to keep the screen awake, so it won't dim mid-cook on supported browsers.
